Immediately, I loved Lani and wanted her to somehow be happy and felt for her when against her better judgment, she started falling for her best friend’s boyfriend. Right from page one, I was all about this book. Susane Colasanti did a wonderful job of sucking me right into this story without trouble. How long can she keep running from the guy who just might be the love of her life?Īmes reviewed this book here on The Book Scoop and I’ve been wanting to read this book for what seems like EVER and when she came down from Canada, she gave me the book to read. Then Erin goes away for the summer - and Jason seems to appear everywhere Lani turns. Lani’s determined to ignore her feelings for Jason, no matter how powerful they are, rather than hurt her best friend. She’s not sure if he feels it, too - but even if he does, he’s off-limits. It’s like they’ve known each other their whole lives. They’ve always had wildly different tastes, from pizza toppings to guys.įrom the minute Lani meets Jason, she can’t deny the amazing connection she feels with him.

Lani likes to do her own thing Erin prefers an entourage. Lani’s a down-to-earth Taurus Erin’s a fiery Leo. The premise of the book sounded like it could be interesting, but it just never delivered.Lani and Erin are lifelong best friends - and total opposites. They seemed like they were only there to move the main character along and when they weren't needed they disappeared. The only two characters who had potential were Connor and Blake and there just wasn't enough of them in the story, if there had been maybe it wouldn't have been so bad. The conversations the characters had throughout the novel were unrealistic and extremely weird. Lani had too much of an obsession with Fate and took everything to extremes. Erin was vain and self centered, everything in the entire world revolved around her. If I never hear the word Fate again in my entire life it will be too soon. It got to the point, where I didn't want to even finish the book. They live in a small town, where as children they would probably run into each other and just because that happened, they were "meant to be together" or because they like the same thing it's "Fate". The talk of Fate throughout this book really got on my nerves.

Who says "Far Out" anymore? Oh and Lani talks to her shopping cart. If that wasn't ridiculous enough, half of the dialogue between Jason and Lani sounds like it belongs in the seventies. Don't believe me, check pages 98 and 99 in the paperback. Evian tastes like sky blue triangles and Poland Spring tastes like red circles. No clue what I'm talking about? Well the characters, Lani and Jason, think different kinds of water taste like this.
